Alcoholism & Gene Silencing: A New Treatment Paradigm For Assessing & Treating Alcoholism
To Whom It May Concern
Wishing To Learn!!
My first experience as a very, very young training doctor in my youth was handling Delirium Tremens (alcohol psychosis) Patients in the Hospital Emergency Room. I was young. What did I know back then, about treating these patients? Not very much!! I had to tie these patients down with leather straps during the violence of their psychosis!!
This approach is part of an integrative health care model that accepts and adds to other, more standard methods of ethanol oe chemical addiction including AA, 12 step and similiar programs, group psychotherapy and individual psychotherapy. There are hundreds of articles already covering the value of these other approaches.
While this may sound academic, it isn't. Call Attorney Jack Altshuler, my most recent case, where blood chemistry was used by me to silence or at least reduce the phenotype of a serious genotype. This is personal and family history, laboratory-based, laboratory directed protocol development for our 60 year old female friend..
Alcohol breaks down into simple sugar, so we look at dysregulation in the glucose-insulin mediating gene clusters. We identify through bloodchemistry the active dysregulating features of the cluster. After their identification, we disengage the working apparatus of that dysregulating feature. We alter the genetic expression of that feature. It is called GENE SILENCING. We activate SIR (silence information regulating) PROTEINS within the gene clusters shown through Susan's bloodchemsitry. This class of protein may be better remembered like BOUNCERS in a BAR, as, SHUT THE HELL UP PROTEINS. By manipulating the gene environment reactions WITH SELECTED BIOCHEMISTRY BASED UPON HER ADVANCED BLOODWORK I HAVE ORDERED, we try to tell her alcohol genes to SHUT THE HELL UP. When I speak to our 60 year old female friend, she will know that I am well versed on this blood work that I wish to have done STAT.
The blood work I will have ordered through her local physician, along with personal and family history, will dictate the direction, magnitude and quality of her intervention. There is no speculation because we are using numbers off of reference ranges that form PATTERN RECOGNITION BY ANALYSIS, pursuant to standards of biochemistry dictated by the American College of Clinical Pathology. I use PATTERN RECOGNITION ANALYSIS, not speculation, conjecture or surmise.
Another related feature is absence of a critical enzyme to break the alcohol down. That enzyme is called alcohol dehydrogenase.
So the alcoholism is the result of an altered metabolic state AND an impaired gene cluster, best objectified through BLOODCHEMISTRY. This is how we get away from alcoholism as a character disorder, or mental disease under DSM IV Revised or ICD-9-CM.
Lastly, this is not holistic or alternative medicine. The biochemistries are ordered from labs licensed under state and federal law, approved under the United States Code. The federal legislation is called the CLINICAL LABORATORY IMPROVEMENT ACT. I have personally checked labs for compliances as an attorney-doctor PhD. I dare any physician to refer to laboratories of this stature and their clinical findings as alternative medicine without looking foolish. I have taught this type of laboratory medicine to physicians.

Mostly, Dr. Keys works as a Consulting PhD Doctor, usually from a distance, with and through a proper local anchor physician to order blood work. Advanced treatment protocols may develop from the advanced blood chemistries he requests. If you have no local doctor, Dr. Keys finds one through an affiliate physician network. His work is global, oftetimes involving patients from other countries as well as all over the continental USA. There are many tests and treatments to help people; Oftentimes, anchor physicians are not familiar or comfortable with them. Dr. Keys teaches and helps to direct individual patients AND their physicians with laboratory-work for these treatment options. This is measured work and clinical biochemistry. Opinion evidence standards are not employed here since this is a measured and laboratory-based or empirical study of the patient. Numbers are sought from the results of these tests that, usually, "...jump up and grab you..." that dictate what is needed and how much. Patient-advocacy is frequently involved to get advanced and necessary clinical biochemistries ordered and to help interpret them in filed reports..Chat room capabilities in voice or text, besides email, may be employed. This may include conference calls online. In a perfect world, if your physician knew everything, people like Dr. Keys would not exist. Physicians themselves are caught frequently in the traps of their own standards of care that may be very limited in many cases. Methods used by Dr. Keys are rational, scientific and disciplined.
