A SAFETY NOTE TO ALL ACTUAL AND POTENTIAL SYSTEMS HRT USERS
Are you accepting either hormone replacement or hormone releasing therapy on the basis of informed consent? Do you have enough information for informed decision making concerning YOUR BODY to undertake any form of hormone replacement or hormone releasing therapy? Have you established a pattern of hormone deficit with a comprehensive hormone assay (test) justifying intervention at this time? Do you need tumor marker or other laboratory studies?
A tumor marker is a substance that can be detected in higher-than-normal amounts in the blood, urine, or body tissues of some patients with certain types of cancer. A tumor marker may be produced by a tumor itself, or by the body in response to the presence of the cancer.
Remember there may be false positives on cerain tumor marker studies so other measures may be employed, also.
Tests for tumor markers may be used along with other tests or x-rays to detect and diagnose some cancers. There are different tumor markers for different types of cancer. Doctors may use changes in tumor marker levels to establish the existence of a disease and, or to follow the course of the disease, to measure the effect of treatment, and to check for reoccurence. In some cases, the tumor marker level reflects the extent of the disease (stage) or indicates how quickly the disease is likely to progress (prognosis).
Tumor markers may include, but are not limited to the following;
TYPE OF CANCER: BLOOD TEST
Ovarian Cancer CA-125 II
Prostate Cancer PSA & Prolactin
Breast Cancer CA-27, 29, CEA,
Prolactin & Alkaline
Phosphatase
Colon, Rectum, Livcr, Stomach CEA, GGTP
& Other Organ cancers
Pancreatic Cancer CA-19.9, CEA, GGTP
Leukemia, Lymphoma, CBC with Differential, & Hodgin?s Disease Immune Cell Differentiation and Leukemia Profile Lung Cancer CEA, CA-125, Alkaline Phosphatase Other Cancers Still, Other Markers, etc.
Pituitary tumor presence measured with IGF-1 (before HGH therapy)
Prior to and during the course of any hormone replacement therapy or hormone releasing therapy, patients should consider a comprehensive hormone assay (test) to establish any patterns of hormone deficit along with the uses of the above or similar tests together with standard blood work to insure that intended hormone support does not cause or contribute to the development of any form of cancer or other diseases. Diathesis is the tendency for someone to get a particular disease like cancer or other diseases based upon personal, immediate and past family history. Every patient will have a different background with different tendencies. Some patients simply are not good candidates for all or particular forms of hormone replacement or hormone releasing therapies because of their diathesis (personal and family history). Replacing your own hormones or stimulating your body to produce your own hormones is a fairly new technology in clinical medicine.
While having youthful levels of key hormones may revolutionize rehabilitative geriatrics in general and to some extent, clean out our hospitals and nursing homes creating a new functional and ambulatory, elderly population, hormone therapies are not for everybody. So, be careful and be cautious. It's only your life. You must ask the basic and fundamental question, AM I A CANDIDATE FOR THIS THERAPY BASED UPON MY PERSONAL AND FAMILY HISTORY AND CURRENT, RELEVANT BIOCHEMISTRIES?

Mostly, Dr. Keys works as a Consulting PhD Doctor, usually from a distance, with and through a proper local anchor physician to order blood work. Advanced treatment protocols may develop from the advanced blood chemistries he requests. If you have no local doctor, Dr. Keys finds one through an affiliate physician network. His work is global, oftetimes involving patients from other countries as well as all over the continental USA. There are many tests and treatments to help people; Oftentimes, anchor physicians are not familiar or comfortable with them. Dr. Keys teaches and helps to direct individual patients AND their physicians with laboratory-work for these treatment options. This is measured work and clinical biochemistry. Opinion evidence standards are not employed here since this is a measured and laboratory-based or empirical study of the patient. Numbers are sought from the results of these tests that, usually, "...jump up and grab you..." that dictate what is needed and how much. Patient-advocacy is frequently involved to get advanced and necessary clinical biochemistries ordered and to help interpret them in filed reports..Chat room capabilities in voice or text, besides email, may be employed. This may include conference calls online. In a perfect world, if your physician knew everything, people like Dr. Keys would not exist. Physicians themselves are caught frequently in the traps of their own standards of care that may be very limited in many cases. Methods used by Dr. Keys are rational, scientific and disciplined.
